My little TeX keyboard

141 words

Back in the golden days of MacOS 9 (and MacOS 8.5, 8, 7.5 and 7.1 for that sake) I used to have my own little keyboard layout for using TeX that remapped the frequently used \, { and } keys from their rather inconvenient positions on the German keyboard (shift-option-7, option-8 and option-9 respectively) to the position of the ü, ö and ä keys which TeX couldn't deal with back then anyway. Sadly, Apple broke the option to have your own keyboard layouts in MacOS X. Until now. Today I learned that you can use your old keyboard layouts at the cost of copying a file and logging back out and in again - which I did. My trusty old TeX keyboard layout is alive and kicking again - including it's pretty TeX-lion Icon that I ripped of OzTeX back then.
