Not that I am into cars or fuel or anything, but when passing the Esso petrol station on my way to lunch, I noticed that they had the tiger there. In case this isn't international – Esso's mascot is a tiger. And they have huge inflatable ones which they put on the roofs of some petrol stations from time to time. It's a friendly and funny looking tiger.
Talking about which – news straight from the horse's mouth have it that the next version of OSX will be code named 'Tiger' as well. That's all good clean fun and goes nicely in the line of the Cheetahs, Pumas, Jaguars and Panthers we've had so far.
But where to go after that? Seeing that 'Leopard' is a bit long and tacky in my ears, 'Lion' would remain the canonical way to go. And that's great of course. The big cat and the king of the OS jungle. Perhaps they'll even fix the Finder for it.
And after that? Going for small felines? Or offering the Itchy/Scratchy (can't remember which one is the cat) OS? Or going into a huge marketing induced frenzy to come up with yet another theme? Not too promising.
If they open it up to smaller cats, there are lynx, bobcats, ocelots…
