Joyful

119 words on

It’s been a while since The Killers published their album Hot Fuss The Killers' Hot Fuss album cover. and apart from Somebody Told Me being played a couple of times it seemed to be forgotten. However, for some reason, now their song Mr. Brightside is being played on telly and generally in public. Not too bad a song –a least it’s a bit uplifting and may go well with the seasonal advance and the hope that spring may finally come and stay.

Amusingly bits of the song sound just like Beethoven’s Freude schöner Götterfunken, or Ode to Joy as they say elsewhere. With Bright Eyes already having done a Road to Joy, this may become another great year for the good old Ludwig van.

?? Well, you’re certainly a lot better off than us in the UK. They’re played everywhere, all the time. There are two indie clubs in Cambridge, one on a friday and one on a saturday. At each club night the Killers get an airing at least twice!

Being an indie snob once again, Dan?

I’m not a big Killers fan, but I’ve heard DJs do much worse things than play two of their songs in the same night…
