When writing about the Apple Remote Control recently, I noticed that the graphic displayed when a computer is tied to a singe remote is a bit misleading: The symbol at the top isn’t part of an interlocked chain, but merely consists of two loops.
I considered filing a bug report on this but for a graphic that is rarely seen that seemed like a waste of time, particularly if nobody at Apple cared about it to begin with and I’d get the behaves as specified
reply anyway. So instead of sending the bug report, I tried to understand Apple’s reasoning behind this to see why this is the correct graphic. And luckily Dave posted about his newly made buttons that day which included his fantastic
And that clarified the situation! The graphic we see is a view from the top on what is actually two Apple mice…
I’ll just have to guess that the whole remote control and Front Row thing was invented with the upcoming iTunes Porn Store in mind and that, indeed, everything behaves as specified
