Has anybody studied the average amount of time people need to go from beginning a programming project to being convinced they could do with a rewrite / refactoring / re-whatever to make things prettier / faster / more-elegant / pimped?

And is there any chance units without a ‘micro’-prefix can be used to describe the result?

When I was programming regularly, I rarely managed to finish a project before being convinced it could be made better. I think it’s the nature of the game. :-)
