This morning we indulged in a particularly strange talk. My boss had invited a guest from Ukraine who spoke neither German nor English. We haven’t had this situation so far as most guests from eastern Europe are rather good at speaking at least one of those languages.
So for all of the talk, my boss had to translate whatever the speaker was saying. And while my boss seemed to do rather well at translating, it’s just something that ruins a talk as it takes all the continuity out of it and ensures that the speaker can’t actually talk to the audience. It’s quite slow and inefficient as well.
