Prints

Some results of the photo print making we went for the other week:

Four prints of the same black and white analogue photo

Yup, four prints of the same photo. While it may be difficult to see on screen and with those reflections in the shiny photo paper, they’re all a bit different. The photo is quite cool with the mountains fading out in the distance but still being properly distinct. It’s quite a difficult photo to make prints of, though, as you’re looking for just the right contrast which makes it easy to distinguish the various mountains while not destroying the soft light on the photo. So a number of attempts had to be made.

As a darkroom doesn’t have those handy levers for contrast or curves and you only get to see the result of what you’re doing after you have commited to doing it, this was quite a different experience to your average computer-based joys.

Alternatively, enjoy those mountains in colour:

Nope… I haven’t even been close to it, although I suppose I’d quite like to.

Ironically it’s almost exactly opposite of Kauai… the distance between the two places apparently being 18500km.
