Allgemeines

Hinter earthlingsoft stehen Versuche von Steffen Kamp und Sven-S. Porst Programme zu schreiben, die benutzerfreundlich sind und deren Benutzung Spaß macht. Wenn diese Programme auch im strengen Sinne nützlich sind, freuen wir uns darüber - es ist aber nicht unser Hauptziel. Unsere Programme dienen meist sehr speziellen Aufgaben und wir hoffen, daß sie diese Aufgaben gut erfüllen. Sollte das nicht so sein, sind wir für Hinweise dankbar.

General

At earthlingsoft we, that is Sven-S. Porst and Steffen Kamp, try to craft applications that are easy and fun to use. Some of our applications may not seem to be extremely useful to some people. If you are one of those people, that particular application probably isn't aimed at you. Most of our programs perform very special tasks and we hope that they do so well. Should we have missed a detail or two, please let us know.

Technisches

Anfangs wurden unsere Programme mit der leicht zu erlernenden aber etwas unflexiblen Entwicklungsumgebung RealBasic erstellt. Mittlerweile haben wir uns entschlossen nach MacOS X zu migrieren und in der in MacOS X heimischen Umgebumg Cocoa zu programmieren. Das heißt leider, daß unsere aktuellen und zukünftigen Programme nicht im herkömmlichen MacOS laufen werden.

Technical Information

Our applications used to be created using the incredibly easy to learn RealBasic. However, since we migrated to MacOS X, we decided to learn and use its native Cocoa environment for our future programming activities. Unfortunately this means that our current and future applications won't run on the traditional MacOS.

Weiterhin versuchen wir, technisch möglichst saubere Dinge zu entwickeln, auch wenn das bei den größeren Projekten manchmal schief läuft. Zumindest bei unseren Webseiten haben wir es geschafft, daß sie sich vollständig an den XHTML 1 Standard und an den CSS Standard halten.

Damit sie 'richtig' aussehen, sollte ein Browser verwandt werden, der CSS korrekt interpretiert. Das sind z.B. Chimera, Internet Explorer 5 (Mac) oder Netscape 6. Sie werden allerdings auch in allen anderen Browsern les- und benutzbar dargestellt.

Furthermore we try hard to make our projects 'clean' from a technical point of view - although, as programs grow, we occasionally fail to reach the standards we would like to meet in our programming. However, we take pride in making our website in a way that conforms to both the XHTML 1 and CSS standards. This means that virtually any browser can be used to access the site, but it looks much prettier in modern browsers such as Chimera, Internet Explorer 5 (Mac) or Netscape 6.

Geld

Die meisten Programme und Programmierhilfen von earthlingsoft sind kostenlos. Da aber teilweise relativ viel Arbeit dadrin steckt, verlangen wir für das ein oder andere Programm eine geringe Gebühr, um den Zeitaufwand zu rechtfertigen. Ansonsten haben wir natürlich auch gegen Spenden, Geschenke etc. nichts einzuwenden.

Sollte jemand der Auffassung sein, daß er uns für Tätigkeiten rund um den Mac, Programmierung oder Websites engagieren möchte, freuen wir uns über eine Nachricht.

Money

Most applications and RealBasic modules by earthlingsoft are available for free. Since programming and maintaining them takes quite a bit of time, we ask for a reasonable charge for some applications to justify the time we spend programming. However, you are most welcome to send us presents, cash gifts etc.

In case you like what we do and the way we do it and you'd like us to do some Macintosh-, Programming- or Web-related stuff for you, contact us and let us know, what you have in mind.
