The Guardian on adverbial overkill. I am absolutely friggin' sick of it.
It's like in mathematics: If some property applies to many things or even everything (e.g. use of 'exciting' adverbs), it's not worth much – it's trivial then. Just as a laugh by a grumpy person will be worth much more than that of Mr and Mrs Cheerful.
I liked Uma Thurmans Pulp Fiction looks better, though.
Is there any good documentation on the 'ics' calendar format. 'Good' as in shorter, easier to understand and less grinding Safari to a halt than IETF's and more informative than Apple's. Or a readymade Cocoa class anyone? I tried to write said files myself and although they look just fine to my eye, iCal refuses to parse them. Are those UID things important for iCal?
Pierre Igot loves his Led Zeppelin DVD. Hm, I remember the discussion I had with Jean the other day. I disapprove of DVDs because they suck – being overpriced and trying to bully me around and all. On the other hand Jean pointed out that a nice and affordable Radiohead DVD may hit a sweet spot with me. Same goes for Led Zeppelin, I guess. Although I consider this one overpriced.
The Shift-less copy protection thing at The Register. I wonder why people keep pointing out that this is a grad student at Princeton in this context. This seems to deal with a pretty trivial fact. It doesn't take a student, let along a grad student from a famous university to figure these things out. In fact both the media reporting this as well as the university shouldn't be too happy about this focus.
Any hints for my Powerbook's battery. It seems to last less than an hour now (stating less than 1Ah). It was bad before but firmly between 1,5 and 2 before – with an bias towards 2 lately. So this sudden decline is very steep and makes the computer almost useless for use on the battery. The broken X.2.8 update only affected the display of the battery's capacity adversely, right?
