Perhaps this is extremely trivial to everybody else but one of my teeth needed a filling, the first one I got. All the problems I had before were tiny tiny things which didn’t matter much. Although – being the hypochondriac that I am – I dreaded the whole affair, I have to admit that it didn’t even hurt and wasn’t as bad as I expected it to be.
In fact I was thrilled by a trick they used to make both their work and my well-being better (win-win): They fixed a sheet of plastic around the tooth they worked on. As a consequence, they had a clean working area without saliva or a tongue coming in where they shouldn’t and I kept a clean mouth that didn’t taste of burned tooth or weird substances. Once you know about this trick it seems so simple and natural that you wonder what they did before someone had the idea…
