I've just seen this report that the OSX Finder will actually slide windows that have off-screen parts fully onto the screen when you drag something onto them. When using this for a window at the bottom of the screen, you'll in fact get the behaviour of traditional Popup-'drawer'-windows that way, they'll slide out when dragging something onto them and slide back afterwards.
Obviously it's neither the real thing nor actually of much use - but I though it was quite sweet.
