Calling

153 words

Steffen just informed me that our family of applications has just gained a new member: CallChecker, an application that you can use to be informed of who's calling you on your ISDN line if you're using a particular router. I saw it working when I visited Steffen in Aachen

It's quite neat - if you're the one who's using the application, that is. I always tend to find it confusing if people greet me with a cheerful "Hi Sven" just after picking up the phone. Normally calling people should give you that little bit of advantage of surprising the person you call. Luckily CallChecker doesn't work when I call Steffen as our phone line so old it doesn't even send it's caller ID.

On the downside, the application has the ridiculous brushed metal look by default. I find that a bit embarassing and will have to talk Steffen out of it.
