A lovely day today, sunny and warm enough. Perfect to spend most of it in my office. My brother came by in the afternoon as he had helped his girlfriend move to Göttingen – we witnessed the joy of her having to find a place to live here a week ago. My brother also brought a bag of easter chocolates a cookies from my mom. I've gone through the whole pack of biscuits by now but I'll be more reasonable on the chocolates – promised. Will have to hide them from my flatmates.
I'll go and grab a snack and then go to the cinema to watch 101 Reykjavík now. Another minute to kill – another random rant:
So Syria is off the hook for the moment? Probably makes sense. Having a whole new war might be better. Another excuse to spend billions with your buddies in the weapons industry. And a nice pre-election war. We'll see whether 2004 will be like '1984'.
The election is a year and a half off, so figure the chickenhawks will start revving up for “Axis Of Evil (TM) Syria: Electric Boogaloo” about this time next year. In happier news, we had our nicest weather of the year so far today, too.
The war stuff is starting to look like a game of Risk (where, at some stage thery changed terminology from ‘conquer’ to ‘liberate’ as well).
So who’s next? Perhaps Libanon first, but tehn Turkey, Greece, a final ‘cleanup’ sweep through former Yugoslavia, Austria, Germany, France (at least they’ve got ‘weapons of mass destruction’), Belgium, Holland… all those evil countries. And while they’re there they can take out that pesky international court.
