Actually the past week wasn't too bad as far as going out is concerned. Quite good for Göttingen, in fact. Zartbitterparty on Wednesday, where I met Gandalf and Mathias and the music while being imperfect as ever catered for everyone's tastes sufficiently to make it fun in the end.
Yesterday there was the night I only recently discovered again. I only noticed now that it's got the punny name Devil's Hair Club. We ended up going there with a couple of people after going to a new-ish bar first. I had a funny drink which consisted of Whiskey, sugary stuff and some kind of macadamia flavour. Although that sounds a bit degenerate, it actually was quite nice.
Drinking and tasting something with whiskey in it, feels quite grown-up. Must be because I don't usually drink whiskey. – Actually there's another drinking habit that I observed in myself recently. Whenever going out for a meal I tend to order a Coke. Which is strange as I don't seem to like the taste of Coke anymore these days. I think it's because when I was little we never had Coke at home and we were allowed to have some when going out for a meal. It surely was exciting to have back then. And seems to have started that habit.
Later, in the club it was nice as the previous times. I really like it when they play good music at the time you get in there. In this case it was Jet's Are you gonna be my girl. (Which is funny because the record is currently only released in Australia and the UK or so – while I've seen the video played on telly. I hate that. Update: It also seems to be on the iTunes Music store. Too bad there's no good way to link to that one.) I really like the song. The first two seconds sound like Sympathy for the devil, the next few seconds like Lust for life and everything after that as if it'd been done 30 years ago. The rest of the album isn't consistently of the same quality, though.
While there were times at which the music sounded too 1950s for me, over all it was very enjoyable. Like I already realised in Coventry the other day, The Libertines' Don't look back into the sun actually is quite a good disco song. While the demo I heard a while ago was already promising, the final song is more energetic and fun.
The link only works on a Mac (of course), but I think

Cool, thanks a lot.
