How is metadata going to have a future if simple FTP copying operations destroy my file creation dates?

Just compare the gauges for Airport signal strength in the picture below. Is signal strength around 25% or rather around 50% of the maximum possible? Perhaps the gauge used in the Airport menu is poorly designed because it may suggest that the area coloured dark is important rather than the number of circle segments. Linear vs. quadratic.

Björn and me put up our kitchen cupboards today. Let's say we aren't very good or experienced at it. But it only showed in one place – where despite our careful measurements there is a 1cm gap between cupboards now :(
