We all know that our beloved music industry is in shambles. Now BMG came up with a bright new plan. They’re offering CDs in three versions: A cheapo one for €10, which apparently doesn’t even have a booklet. A normal one for €13 with the usual booklet and a deluxe one for €17 with bonus tracks and a nice booklet.
It’s nice to see things move, but of course the pricing is still hilarious and who’d want to spend €10 for a CD that gives all the luxury of a quick copy?
Anyway, to prove that they completely lost the plot and that Apple don’t run their online music business well, they put the new album of German band 2raumwohnung (which – as can be told by the ‘clever’ new economy style name – is a crap band, whose singer looks like she needs to be punched and who do music that’s horrible, yet can be utilised to reliably make girls dance) on iTMS in all three different versions. Ha! Nice booklet. Naturally all three versions can be downloaded for €10. Clever.
The link works in the U.S. iTMS, amusingly enough, and even appears to be purchaseable ($9.99), except that, well, the music is quite crap.
