Google tend to get many things right. And thus I was quite surprised to see this in their German GMail settings:

Ignoring the problem of displaying the site in a narrow window for the moment, they translated two of the three occurrences of the word “encoding” as Verschlüsselung, i.e. encryption in these settings while translating the remaining one appropriately as Codierung. Odd.
