Early September and they start selling christmas cookies.
In fact they also sold coloured eggs in the same supermarket. Odd.
When I commented on this in my supermarket to the cashier on Wednesday, the supervisor overheard it and said “Yes, I know we are late, we should have had it end of August”. I was irritated before, after that I was just left speechless. Had to buy an ice cream as a protest act ;)
I know now is actually a good time to start making stollen so it’s had time to age before the holidays, but here in the US the Christmas items don’t really begin showing up until the beginning of November.

@d.w.:
I guess a fully fledged christmas tree even beats the ‘seasonal’ cookies. I suppose I have to look out for those as well now.
Fair enough, d.w. I’m not much of a consumer, and just by going to Costco you’re likely more in touch with the American retail experience than I am.
