I didn't get round to do much writing in the past few days. Just being around uni a lot – and out a lot as well. We started with Bingo and a party to follow it on Monday. Lots of freshers at that party. Those first years still have that enthusiastic glow about them with everything being exciting and cool. That'll take a few more weeks to wear off.
On Wednesday we met for dinner and drinks with our fellow mathematicians. That worked out much better than I had expected. Unfortunately not all of the new people came along so we could get to know them. Finally, yesterday, Claus and me had yet another one of our weekly meals at our favourite pasta restaurant. As he'll be leaving Göttingen, this may have been one of our last meals there. Later we met with more people for cocktails at a place that turned out to have an all-night happy hour. Joy.
And now for the binge dump of links that accumulated on my desktop during the week. Credits may be missing for a few due to my ingenious way of storing them as 'piles' of web location clippings on my desktop and them getting messed up a bit.
Emerging products and applications ... software aimed at the power consumer ... A higher frame rate might eat up bandwidth on your network ... Picture and audio quality were excellent, as the TV screen gave us a larger picture than our PC's monitor. The manual focus ring on the device adjusted well to the amount of light in the room. ... The most professional-looking device we tested ... The image quality was excellent, in part because of the small screen size. We could see and hear the caller on the other end ...

Current Music: The Kill Bill soundtrack with an utterly addictive ten minute latinesque cover version of Don't let me be misunderstood. If you didn't know before you'd know it's the soundrack for a Tarantino film when listening to it. And the Strokes' new album which I'll write about soon... Unfortunately my way to the office lasts three songs only – four if I'm slow and have to wait at the lights.
