Finally

109 words on

After a seemingly eternal wait for the magic ‘release’ DVD, it finally arrived and I got to play around a little to see how the final version is doing. Let’s say things installed just fine (while I attract problems, I don’t think I ever had problems with system updates – touching wood!) and I’ll see how things work for real now. Giving the futuristic Time Machine a spin as well:

Time Machine Backup progress window with more than 1400000 files to go.

And it immediately reminded me why I keep thinking that OS X is becoming too unixy. 1,4 million friggin’ files! I may be a messy person, but let me assure you that most of those weren’t created by me.

I somewhat doubt that those hidden files have a role to play in this. They shouldn’t be part of the backup anyway (file:///System/Library/CoreServices/backupd.bundle/Contents/Resources/StdExclusions.plist).
