These were the most important houses we saw during the first part of our
tour. Now we are obviously starting to do the second part. As you can see on the map (remember to use the "Back"-button) the second part of our tour is a kind of round trip starting and ending at the Mathildenstraße. Due to the great importance of the Mathildenstraße for the Bremer Haus, we'll present you all the houses we saw there at the end of our tour. |
Das waren die wichtigsten Bilder vom ersten Teil unserer Tour. Nun gehen wir auf den zweiten Teil. Wie man auf der Karte (vergeßt nicht, den "Back"-Knopf zu benutzen) sehen kann, handelt es sich hierbei um einen Rundgang, der in der Mathildenstraße beginnt und endet. Da die Mathildenstraße eine große Bedeutung für das Bremer Haus hat, wollen wir die Häuser von dort alle zusammen am Ende vorstellen. |

Momentarily we are looking on houses in the Kreftingstraße which is
right at the bottom of our tour as marked on the map.
These are two rather wide houses which represent another phenomenon often
found with the Bremer Häuser - so-called Zwillingshäuser (twin
houses) which are symmetrical to each other as well on the outside as on
the inside.
Im Moment betrachten wir gerade Häuser in der Kreftingstraße, die ganz unten auf unserer Tour (siehe Karte) liegt. Das gezeigte Doppelhaus weist ein weiteres Phänomen auf, das bei Bremer Häusern oft zu beobachten ist: sie sind Zwillingshäuser, d.h. beide Häuser sind sowohl äußerlich als auch innerlich zueinander symmetrisch. |

This house in Albrechtstraße on our way to the
Kohlhökerstraße shows that Bremer Häuser can have
different styles (take a look at the overall form, the window styles etc.
and compare!)
Dieses Haus in der Albrechtstraße auf unserem Weg zu Kohlhökerstraße zeigt, daß Bremer Häuser durchaus nicht alle aus einem Guß sind (beachtet die Form, die Fensterarten etc. und vergleicht mit den anderen Bildern!) |

Still on our way to Kohlhökerstraße we saw this house. With its
glassed veranda it is also typical for the Bremer Haus, as many Bremer
Häuser used to have such verandas (many of which have been destroyed
until today). Although these glassed verandas were very impractical (too
hot in the summer because of the glass and due to the lack of insulation
too cold in winter) everybody wanted to have one. The detail photograph below shows the veranda again and allows a closer look at the other details of the house as to mention the door and the windows. Noch immer auf unserem Weg in die Kohlhökerstraße sahen wir dieses Haus. Die verglaste Veranda ist ein weiteres typisches Merkmal für Bremer Häuser. Obwohl diese Veranden sehr unpraktisch sind, weil sie im Sommer wegen des Glases zu warm und im Winter wegen der mangelnden Isolierung zu kalt werden, waren sie sehr beliebt und jeder wollte eine haben. Heute sind viele dieser Glasveranden bereits zerstört. Die Detailaufnahme unten zeigt neben der Veranda auch mehr Details von der Tür und den Fenstern. |

Now we finally reached Kohlhökerstraße. The photo allows you to
look into the street and get an impression how Bremer streets look like. In
addition you can see how the homogenity of the street is disrupted by
(ugly) newer buildings.
Jetzt haben wir die Kohlhökerstraße erreicht. Das Bild gibt Einblick in den Straßenzug und zeigt, wie sehr Neubauten das Straßenbild zerstören können. |

In the Salvador-Allende-Straße, the leftmost part of our route (see map), we see these houses. More examples to prove that
similar houses mustn't be monotonous.
Diese Häuser stehen in der Salvador-Allende-Straße, auf dem linkesten Teil unserer Route (siehe Karte). Sie sind ein weiteres Beispiel dafür, daß ähnliche Häuser nicht langweilig sein müssen. |
