Being a long time fan of Funny van Dannen’s music and having enjoyed his stories at a reading this year, I thought I’d get his current book Zurück im Paradies. It contains the stories he read and then some. Short, inconsequential and funny they are. Good entertainment at a length that you can’t fall asleep over. And certainly with a number of highlights in there.
Being a big hater of Karstadt ‘convenience’ stores myself, I absolutely loved the story Sein größter Wunsch which ends with.
Karstadt ist am Abkacken, meinte der Löwe. Die machen’s nich’ mehr lang. Dann kannst du dir die Dinger abholen.
Karstadt am Abkacken?, freute sich der Büffel. Weißt du das genau? Der Löwe nickte. hektor sprang auf. Er lieft nach Hause und rief seiner Frau schon von weitem zu: Ich krieg sie, Schatz, ich krieg sie!
Doesn’t make much sense if you don’t speak German. Doesn’t make much sense either if you do and don’t happen to be amused by buffalos wanting to buy escalators. It did amuse me at least.
